World Heritage Day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites is observed every year on April 18 to create awareness about the importance of the monuments and the significance they hold. Talking about his favourite Heritage spots, Pawan Singh aka Zafar Ali Mirza says, "Sansktrik aur Aithihashik Stahl ka khazana hai Dilli! The city is home to some of the top UNESCO World Heritage sites. Whenever someone asks me about Delhi, I cannot resist mentioning my favourite heritage spot- Humayun's Tomb. It is one of the best preserved Mughal monuments and the first of the grand dynastic mausoleums to become synonyms of Mughal architecture with the architectural style. I have visited that place hundreds of times, but every time I go there, I get mesmerised by this monument's architecture and design. It is also an amazing spot to hang out with your friends and click beautiful pictures making a lot of memories. On World Heritage Day, all I want to say is that preserving the cultural heritage is crucial as it defines the national identity of a country". Remembering his old days in Delhi, Aasif Sheikh, aka Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, says, "The rich heritage and historical monuments create the real aura of Delhi. Ever since my childhood, I never used to miss any chance of witnessing Independence Day parade at the Red Fort. And ever since then Red Fort has become my favourite spot. The Red Fort has been an emblem of supremacy since the rule of Shah Jahan and has witnessed several historical transformations. Bharat ke Azadi ka pehla jhanda bhi yahin lehraya gaya tha. Whenever I visit Red Fort, I get goosebumps and I cannot stop admiring it. My humble request is for everyone to treat these historical monuments that are no less than godly art pieces and preserve them for future generations to know and understand their rich historical and cultural significance." Gracy Singh aka Santoshi Maa says, "It is really difficult to choose one. From Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort to Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, each monument has a unique sense of beauty, architecture, and story attached to it. But I really love visiting Qutab Minar, I have many memories there with my friends and family. But this mesmerising tower is a must visit if one is coming to Delhi. Not just on World Heritage Day, but I feel people should treat these monuments as they treat their own properties. It is our fundamental duty to save guard these monuments as they represent our history and culture."
